On November 9th 2020, the exercise Frisian Flag started with the arrival of 4 F-35A’s belonging to the 322 sqn, Leeuwarden Air Base. The 4 Lightning II’s were deployed to Volkel for the first time. The F-35’s conducted missions together with the F-16’s based at Volkel to achieve the Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
