The only 2 CH-47F Chinook helicopters, flying for the 298sqn, Royal Netherlands Air Force and based at Gilze Rijen, ceased flying activities in Dutch airspace and continued their missions in the US after being upgraded.
With some great help from personel from the 298 squadron, i had the unique opportunity to shoot this CH-47F, with serial D-892, during a nightshoot.
This CH-47F already made its last flight and left Gilze Rijen at February 7th, towards Woensdrecht. At Woensdrecht the Chinooks will be prepared for shipping towards the US. CH-47F with serial D-890 left Gilze Rijen on the 22nd of February for it’s final flight in Dutch airspace.
