D-8114 is a Fokker-built Lockheed F-104G Starfighter (c/n 683 / msn 8114) that first flew in 1963 and served with the Royal Netherlands Air Force with markings for units including 311 and 312 Squadron. After retirement it spent time as an instructional airframe at Delft Technical University before returning to Dutch hands.

Today the airframe is in the care of the Dutch Starfighter Foundation at Volkel Air Base, where volunteers have been methodically restoring D-8114 with the long-term goal of returning it to display — and potentially flying — condition. The foundation documents the aircraft’s transfer, restoration milestones (gear tests, cockpit work) and its policy plan on their site.

A major step in the restoration was sourcing a serviceable General Electric J79-GE-11 engine; the team located an appropriate engine and progressed engine-run testing and undercarriage work as part of the push to make D-8114 airworthy again. The project continues to rely on donations, specialist support and the dedication of volunteers.
